How to Grow Your Insta Organically

Despite being of a generation that values instant gratification, I have come to terms with the fact that there are some things in life that you can’t – or shouldn’t – rush. Sure, it can be tempting to purchase followers or purchase X dollars in ad spend to receive untargeted followers to see your numbers jump – but if they don’t convert to clients, is it really worth it in the long run? Here are a few ways to grow your Instagram account in a legitimate and organic way.

Ensure Your Profile is Optimized

If your profile isn’t inviting, people aren’t going to want to venture in. Much like a store front, it’s important to ensure your product/service offering and your aesthetics are clear.

There are four main components to your profile that can make or break your first impression:

  • Profile Picture
  • Username & Tag Line
  • Bio
  • Website URL

If these aren’t cohesive or don’t provide a potential client with all of the info they need, they may move on.

Connect With Followers of Like-Minded Businesses

Find similar accounts in your niche and connect with their followers. This is a great way to put your profile in front of the faces of prospective clients as you already know what kind of content they’re interested in if they’re following someone similar to you.

Another great way to connect with others in your niche is to use the ‘suggested accounts’ that Instagram shows you. These generally pop up when you follow an account, and a list of other profiles will appear.

Post Regularly + Strategically

Instagram is all about consistency, so if you want your account to grow you need to post consistently. With that being said, it’s so important to remember Quality VS Quantity. A random image with a half-assed caption or song lyric is worse than not posting at all. If you’re looking for ideas of what to post, check out our latest post on content that encourages engagement.

Use Relevant Hashtags

Hashtags are the search terms that people will type in to find relevant photos or accounts to follow. You need to show up where you should, so using appropriate hashtags is important! Think about who you are trying to attract and use hashtags that will attract more targeted followers to your account.
