5 Photo-Editing Apps We Swear By

When it comes to styling photos for Instagram, one of my favourite parts is editing. I love the creativity editing provides, even if my original photo is sub par or lacking vibrant colours. Editing doesn’t have to be a time consuming process, once you get the hang of it, it becomes fairly routine as you tend to utilize the same filters, effects, and editing tools for most photos if you’re looking for a consistent theme for your feed (more on that later!) In my opinion these are 5 of the best photo editing apps available today. The beauty of the apps I’m about to share with you is that they’re all super cheap if not free, making them budget-friendly for anyone looking to step up their insta game!

1. Facetune

Facetune is one of my all time favourites and is one of the best photo editing apps out there. Why? Your girl takes a lot of beauty photos and I love the smoothing filter to use on my complexion when the lighting isn’t flattering or I’m experiencing a break-out. In addition to that, the whitening filter is great for teeth, flooring, cupboards, or other surfaces that pull warm or cool tones on camera.

2. A Color Story

A Color Story allows you to brighten up even the dullest of photos with special effects and overlays, light flares, and more! You can even buy additional packages that have preset filters and effects created by other users to save yourself the guess word.

3. Canva

Canva is a free app that allows you to create swoon-worthy graphics from an assortment of templates. You can upload your own picture, change the text and colours, and voila! You have your very own professional looking graphic to post on Instagram or use as a featured image on your blog.

4. Afterlight

Afterlight is an awesome app for those who may be easily intimidated by the thought of photo editing. The basic version comes with an assortment of free filters and basic editing tools, and upgrades allow you access to different filters and effects like added a grainy texture or Polaroid feel to your images.

5. VSCO

VSCO is not only a popular editing app for Instagram, it also allows you to share your images among other things. Think of it as modern day Tumblr with cool photo editing features.

Let me know if you’d like to see a more thorough tutorial of how exactly I use these editing apps! I’m happy to share my techniques with all of you.
